Your students will feel the power in writing sentences with this expanding-sentence activity.

Have your students use this organizer to practice adding details to a simple sentence. They will choose an adjective to describe the noun in the sentence.
Then, they will either choose to expand the sentence by describing ‘where’ or ‘when’ or both. Once the organizer is filled, have your students rewrite the new sentence neatly on the lines. I have included a blank-frame page for them to draw a picture to match their new sentence. Have the students glue the new sentence page to the bottom of the picture page.

I have included 12 practice sentences and 1 blank template for you to create your own. You can display your students’ work on a bulletin!
