This download includes phoneme segmentation and blending practice for CVC short /i/ words.
The words in this packet are pit, pin, lip, sit, zip, bib, lid, dig, six, fin, fix, hit, dip, win, kit, and mix.
The activities will help your students to improve their encoding skills as they practice segmenting words and listen to the sounds of words. They will also blend the words they segment, and this will improve their decoding skills. As they write the words, they will discover how exciting this process is, and this will increase their confidence as readers!
 
There are 2 sets of 16 pages in color and black & white.
I have also included 16 segmenting and blending cards which can be copied on cardstock paper. These cards can be laminated and used during small-groups or in centers.
The color pages may be inserted into plastic sheet protectors and kept in a binder. Or, you can laminate individual sheets.
The students can use a dry ease marker to write on top of the plastic. They can erase and practice the skills as needed.
After completing the practice activities, students may show what they’ve learned by writing the words they now know.
